these popsicles are made with yogurt and fresh orange juice, creating a healthy version of a creamsicle.

More popsicle recipes before the summer is over! Creamsicles were my favourite popsicle growing up, the sweet orange flavour and creamy vanilla interior – so freaking good. I can’t have those anymore, but I can recreate a creamsicle-esque flavour using real oranges (!!) and vanilla extract. 

These popsicles then, are not creamsicle in the sense that they have that creamy vanilla filling, but more so because of their sweet, hint-of-vanilla-and-orange flavour. That’s the best way for me to describe it. The bonus is that they only use a handful of real ingredients. The other bonus is that they’re super easy to make, and the whole family will love them – I made them for a dessert at a family get together and even the non-SCD, non-gluten-free people loved the taste of these popsicles (i.e. the ones who could eat sugar and regular ol’ creamsicles)! So you know it’s real.

Keeping this recipe very simple with homemade 24-hour yogurt (although your favourite yogurt will do, store bought or homemade), freshly-squeezed orange juice, pure vanilla extract and honey. It’s the perfect combination to create a sweet and slightly creamy orange flavour to remind you of childhood faves.

Throw everything in a blender or food processor, transfer it to your popsicle molds (my favourite one on Amazon is here), and wait for them to freeze. Once they’re frozen I tend to transfer each to its own little Ziploc baggy in order to make it easy to grab one whenever. Such a good treat/dessert, one you can feel good about enjoying too!
